Meet the Grumpy Squid

Behind every knot, burn mark, and grain line is John, better known around here as the man behind Grumpy Squid Co.

A Navy veteran and USS Cole bombing survivor, John has carried his grit from the sea into the shop. These days, instead of serving on deck, he’s working on his pyrography pieces, crafting custom designs, and putting his salty stubbornness to good use.

When he’s not in the shop, you’ll find him with his family, or out by the water with a fishing pole in hand. Outdoors is his happy place, even if he’d never admit it with a smile.
